This letter * is part of an invitation from a group of citizens who are convinced in the need to reflect on the society we want. This is a challenge we share with citizens of our country, in the context of the imminent election of the Chairman of the Bicentennial of Chile.
Our country has matured. Although no injuries have fully transverse traumas healthy society, Chile is not the same 30 years ago, is not the same hopeful society with the return of democracy in 1990. We live fears and face turn of the century, from 2000, a new route, with a vision, perhaps pretentious citizen but sincerely open to a change in the traditional way of doing politics that we know and willing to build an inclusive future .
that country ceased to be isolated and provincial. Changed the premises of persons families, businesses, state. Ours is a nation open to the world as never before been, and technologies, the Web, "living in the cloud, allow us to match the pitch and play on a level playing field globally.
Who wrote this letter are parents of a new generation, connected with the world and aware of the opportunities it offers. Our children have access to sources of information and knowledge with a dynamic and speed that amazes us, which often can not continue and we must learn to listen. This world without borders, mobile and accessible from the screens, is the natural environment in which, the new entrepreneurs are projected to build innovation, develop human capital and added value to the country of today and tomorrow.
We are certain that it is possible. The problems of Chile is about all. The best way-perhaps the only, to initiate a path towards overcoming them is actively integrating citizenship and creativity in designing solutions that respond to their needs. In this, technology is now one of the principal means enabling. Something this season to choose the President of Chile for the next four years, seems to have been understood. We talked about building the capacity to talk of citizens through the media and part of the authorities to clarify their commitment to listen, respond and then act on what these discussions generated.

generation to live intensely the bicentennial challenges us to respond to new needs and demands of our society. We believe the priority for Chile in the next ten years is to become an active part of the knowledge society, giving from our wealth and cultural diversity. To do this, we have the tools at our disposal, but we need to learn to use them creatively. Our educational offerings should be regarded as opportunity, not threat the digital skills and look criticism of new generations, to build a quality proposal to consider the twenty-first century skills at the heart of Chile's present curriculum.
This generation is our duty to give them a country perspective, with a long term and not permanent draft format. The concept of change, much used during the campaign, but as forgotten at other times, should be treated as an immediate need. Today change is a permanent state. We must move forward in a process of sincere good, the bad and the ugly, regardless of origin or color of these initiatives.
We see in the distance, first world countries and others that were similar to Chile grow, driving significant reforms and country projects in which technology and its contribution are key. In all these examples, the State has had institutions capable endowed with political and economic support to address this task, which is home to many sectors and leads effectively force a process that will take us at least ten years. An institutional framework to define and execute a long-term public policy, with capacity to adapt to constantly changing scenarios and not completely redefined every time a change of government.
We refer to the application of technology and its use to combat poverty as a lever for a better quality of life and development engine for people to access, among other things, better education, better health, better work, promoting their innovative capacity and their greater participation in all areas where its future is played.

figures this out. According to the World Bank, an increase of 10% penetration of broadband generated in countries like ours a 1.38% increase in Gross Domestic Product. Do you know our economists similar example?
Another model that the world recognizes us but we have not been able to replicate in other areas, is the Chilecompra procurement platform, which allowed for increased participation of small and medium enterprises in the procurement State to 37%, more than double its share in the rest of the economy. But despite this, according to a study commissioned by the Department of Telecommunications at the University Alberto Hurtado in 1 of every 5 households in the country is not worth to be connected to the Internet.
ride is not the technological trends of the moment or their gadgets, but how we integrate smart and timely knowledge society. We hopped on the bandwagon too late Industrial Revolution, do not miss this new opportunity. And this opportunity is necessarily digital. Whatever the model of development, long-term vision, the dream country that want to build the digital dimension will be at its center. But those who signed this letter we are called, above all, the possibility of Chile to build a more equitable access to opportunities, and maybe it's where technology plays a more transformative role, by democratizing dramatically access to sources of information, knowledge, value creation, personal development.
Therefore, the future President of Chile, we invite you to change the look, to refresh the view. We invite you to assume that the future of Chile will be digital or not, a future that we owe to our children.
